/prizes and rules

JUDGING & NOTIFICATION

Entries will be judged on the following criteria in three categories:

​

  • 40% -> Content: creativity, relevancy

  • 35% -> Correctness: organization, grammar, punctuation, spelling

  • 35% -> Style: visual, fun. engaging

​

Decisions of judges are final and not subject to appeal or review. Ties will be broken using the content category. The winners will be posted on the EatSmart2BeSmart.org website. Two winners will be selected and will receive $500 each for classroom supplies at his/her discretion. Winners must not be filers of Form 700.

SUMMARY

  • California teachers or teacher teams - nomitate a fellow teacher.

  • Submit an optional favorite nutrition lesson or project in PDF, as a slide show, video.

  • Submit a picture of nominee (teacher) and/or with their class.

  • Video submission optional but must be 1-3 minutes in length.

  • The more visual the entry, the more likely the chance of winning!

  • Show us your nominee's passion and creativity in teaching children about a balanced and healthy diet.

  • Make that classroom to the cafeteria connection.

  • Entries must be submitted online using our entry form.

  • Participant must not be a Form 700 filer.

WHAT & HOW

  • Tell us about your Outstanding Nutrition Educator nominee.

  • Share your nominee's creativity and how he/she implement the lesson.

  • Show us why your nominee is passionate about nutrition.

  • Submit a picture or video of your nominee and/or your class.

WHEN: Deadline is February 28, 2017

WHY: Our Food and Nutrition Services Department wants to recognize you for helping to teach our students about the importance of eating balanced and healthy meals.  Let's make a classroom to cafeteria connection!

LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE

We have created a Lesson Plan and Project Template that you may use as a guide for areas to consider and include with your entry.  Lesson Plan submission is optional.
