PRIZES & RULES

The "I Love My School Lunch Heroes" contest is produced by the Southern California School Nutrition Association and sponsored by Food Safety Systems and General Mills Foodservice. The deadline for submission is Friday, April 15, 2022. The winners will be announced on Friday, May 6, 2022 during National School Lunch Week. The contest is open to students, teachers, staff and school employees in California. All entries become the property of SCSNA, Food Safety Systems and General Mills Convenience & Foodservice. Creating a submission indicates consent.
ELIGIBILITY AND GUIDELINES

Contest Eligibility & Entry Guidelines

 

  • Students, teachers, staff and school employees can submit a short video celebrating the hard work, care and dedication of your School Lunch Lady or Dude. 

​

  • Video record a 30-60 seconds skit, video essay, dance, song, flash mob, artwork, social media parody, assembly, ... [Insert Awesome Idea] - the more creative, the better!

​

  • If using a smartphone for video submissions, be sure to hold it landscape.  And don't forget... good audio quality is a main component!  Need some video recording tips? Visit EatSmart2BeSmart.org/Library

  • To be eligible, you must be a student(s), teacher, staff member, or school employee(s).  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify ineligible entries.

​

  • Any failure to adhere to these Contest Rules may result in disqualification from the contest.

​

  • No purchase is necessary.

​

  • Be creative as you sing praises to your school district's essential lunch heroes. Make us laugh, cry and be inspired…tug at our heartstrings.

JUDGING AND NOTIFICATION

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • 15 Points  -> Content: create a video to THANK your School Lunch Heroes and communicate the value that they have provided you, your class and your school.

  •  5 Points   -> Style and Creativity: let your imagination run wild! Skit, video essay, dance, song, flash mob, artwork, social media parody, assembly, etc.

  •  5 Points   -> Time: dedicated your time to create a special video for your School Lunch Heroes.

  •  5 Points   -> Effort: participant and video submission reflects the effort in creating something meaningful.

  •  5 Points   -> Heartstrings Pull: make us laugh, cry and be inspired... tug at our heartstrings.

  • 20 Points  -> Inclusivity: student and class involvement, as well as special appearances by your School Lunch Heroes in the video submission is KEY.

Judges will select the TOP 3 videos. Selected videos will be posted on the our Instagram account @southerncsna.  The video with the most "likes" will determine the winner.  Be sure to follow on Instagram!

Decisions of judges are final and not subject to appeal or review.  Ties will be broken using the Content category.

The winner(s) will be notified before Friday, May 6, 2022.  The winners will be posted on EatSmart2beSmart.org.  The winning entry submitted by a student(s), teacher, staff or school employee will win $500! The winning team of School Lunch Heroes will also receive $500 - the prize will be sent to the District's Director of Nutrition Services to be used to show appreciation to the team of lunch heroes at the designated school. This $500 can be used to provide lunch, gifts etc. at the Director's discretion. Winners must not be filers of Form 700.
